Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessments
As prime consultant for a large (approximately 260 hectare) subdivision development we undertook all aspects of the archaeological process including a combined Stage 1 and 2 archaeological assessments of the entire study area, a Stage 3 assessment and Stage 4 mitigation. Specifically, the Stage 2 archaeological assessment involved pedestrian survey and over 7,000 shovel test pits. In one field area a large scatter of circa 1850 historic Euro-Canadian artifacts was located. The Stage 3 and subsequent Stage 4 at the historic site consisted of systematic excavation of the entire site area. In total, over 45,000 artifacts were recovered, catalogued, processed and analysed, thereby documenting the mid-1800s nature of the homestead site
